Ruffles will always be a fun addition to an outfit that are still able to maintain a sense of elegance and femininity. As with any statement making look, there are some things to keep in mind when rocking this trend. In general, accessories should be keep to a minimum; ruffles like these are their own accessories. Always keep balance and proportion in mind, both in fit and in what you choose to pair the trend with. Tailoring is a must for petite frames to achieve the perfect fit needed, and avoid being swallowed by the ruffles. Here are some quick easy ways to wear ruffles.
For Dresses:
During the day, wear a dress with a simple ruffle and simple shoes. You don’t want the shoes to overpower the dress. Try something like 1960s Malcolm Charles Dress with a pair of Ferragamo Black Vara Flats.
When it comes to tops, it is even easier. Pair a ruffled top with slim bottom, or a pair of jeans. For example, this Ralph Lauren Blue Ruffle Top looks great with these True Religion Medium Wash Flare Jeans.
In terms of separates, especially when it comes to bottoms, the longer the better. You do not want it too look like lingerie. If you are trying to be office appropriate, a simple pencil skirt with a little bit of ruffle is definitely okay for the office and cute.
