Take Your Dog to Work Day!
Posted by Natali on Jun 20th 2014
Today marks the 16th anniversary of “Take Your Dog to Work Day”! Started by Pet Sitters International in 1999, the event celebrates our furry friends and encourages adoptions from local shelters, rescue groups and humane societies. Though fewer than 300 companies celebrate the event, involvement grows every year. Some companies, like Proctor & Gamble and Google, even allow canine companions in the office every day.
Bringing your dog to work can actually help to improve health and wellness. Pets in the workplace are known to reduce stress levels. They also force you to take breaks, which will increase your overall productivity. Lastly, dogs facilitate a friendlier workplace environment. Pet-friendly workplaces lead to more amicable relationships with co-workers and customers and a more positive impression of the workplace.
For those without a dog, don’t worry about feeling left out of the festivities! Cat owners and other pet owners have the entire week before the event to celebrate with Take Your Pet to Work Week.
